What attracted you to HR?
I wanted to get a better understanding on how some organisations really get the best from people.
How did you progress your career?
Firstly, I made sure to spend enough time in each specialist role, roughly about 4 years, in order to really learn how to do it. By studying the area I was working in it helped give me some wider context on what I was pursuing and helped build my confidence. Finally, I was open to moving locations as opportunities presented themselves which opened up a world of opportunity for me.
What is the most valuable piece of advice you have been given throughout your career?
Make sure to learn how to ‘listen’ effectively (although I don’t always practice this!).
What advice would you give to your 18 year old self?
“Relax. You'll get there. Enjoy the journey"
Can you give us 1 fun fact about yourself?
I like jokes - humour is a useful part of the toolkit.
